This model, often referred to as designed by
Albe Steiner
, was introduced to the market by Aurora as a flagship model in 1963. Despite its slimmer shape and unrounded ends, it is still considered the last descendant of the Aurora dynasty. 88 inaugurated by Marcello Nizzoli seventeen years earlier.
The pen was initially produced with a sophisticated piston charge, characterized by the introduction of the so-called "Magic Reserve". At a later time (a precise date is not known, but presumably in 1965 the 98 was not produced even in a considerably simplified alternative version, passing from the plunger to a normal cartridge filling, due to the pressure of the competition by now it was spreading more and more and it is also not clear how long the production of the two variants, both called "98", has overlapped.
