  • Condition: Excellent vintage condition. No chips or cracks to any of the beads. The applejuice beads tested positive for Bakelite with Simichrome polish. The black beads did not test positive with Simichrome, but did pass the hot water test. (See photo #7) Clasp in excellent working condition.

    Description

    This vintage Bakelite necklace was made from semi translucent applejuice and black colored cone shaped beads that have been faceted.
    Each bead is approximately 3/4" long and 1/2" in diameter at the base of each bead. Small goldtone spacer beads separate the larger Bakelite beads.
    The necklace is 16" from end to end and has a ball and hook type clasp that is in great working condition.
    The applejuice beads did test positive for Bakelite using Simichrome polish. As is often the case, the black Bakelite did not yield a positive result with Simichrome polish. When this occurs I resort to the default hot water test for Bakelite. (See photo #7) After dipping one of the black beads into hot water for a few seconds, the bead gave off the unmistakable odor associated with authentic vintage Bakelite.
